It's been way too long...

My life has been a whirlwind of events. I have celebrated life on both ends of the spectrum, Pookie turning one and the homegoing of my oldest brother. Each event reminding me to live every moment, laugh everyday, and love beyond words.

Toys R Us...

Sunday i set out to buy my baby Toogums a new toy. I'm such a horrible toy buyer, In the Big Picture I honestly don't see the need to spend big bucks on toys that capture my sweetie's attention for a few moments when she will play with a plastic cup as though it was neatest thing invented. However, since I'm all caught up in consumerism and spoiling my Pookie Toogums rotten I ventured out to the Ole so famous Toys R Us. Immediately I was overwhelmed by the number of choices, I tried to narrow my search for the perfect toy by focusing in on her age groug (9 months) but Geez, all the toys are sooo complicated each one promising 40 different functions in English or Espanol, guaranteeing that my little one will be able enhance her development in 10 different ways and that of course the toy is easy to assemble and clean. So, after reading boxes and attempting to think things through I finally decided to just copy the choice my fellow consumer snagged for her bundle of joy. Once we were back at the house my hubby eagerly put the toy together (he's so funny, he goes at it as though I the item is for him), Pookie Toogums squealed with joy as she pounded on the activity center and made it light up and make all sorts of sound. Then 5 minutes later she was back to crawling on the floor with her faithful plastic cup. Hmm, next timeI think I'll just buy her a set of tupperware :)

Humbling, but true...

Humbling, but true my baby Toogums hair is kicking my butt ! Now anyone who knows me KNOWS that I pride myself on my ability to "Do" hair. However this is not the case with my sweet baby Toogums. She has definitely reached way back into our ancestory to adorn her cute little head with silky soft locks. I've been told that my hair was much more curly than hers when I was a baby, but I can hardly imagine that based on what adorns my head now. So HUMBLING as it may be I searched a website of a white woman with VERY, VERY good advice on how she cares for curly locks that her sweet baby girl has. A White Woman, I know, I can hardly believe it, ME getting advice from a White Woman about Black Hair! I should be the one GIVING the advice. Well, whatever it takes, I'm gonna do my best for my sweet baby Toogums. Thank you lord for blessing my baby with a beautiful mane, I pray I learn to care for it in such a way that it brings the beauty you intended!

The Phases of Pookie Toogums Hair

The Pregnancy Myth about having heartburn = lots of hair is definetly true! I was definitely a Tums popper while I carried her.

Getting started...

Getting started is usually the hardest part of doing anything new. I've become somewhat of a blog stalker in the past few weeks and figured that it's about time I started one of my own. Especially since it seems as though it's a good alternate way to keeping in touch with family and friends. I hope that if I get this blog started, maybe those I hold dear will start one too and we can be apart of each other's lives, special events, or just share pictures even though we all live so far away (mainly me), so here goes...
